The Copperas Cove community is mourning the passing of 79-year-old Mayor Frank Seffrood, who passed away Friday morning a little over two weeks after being reelected.

The City of Copperas Cove announced Seffrood's passing Friday afternoon, and said he was at home with his family when he unexpectedly succumbed to a brief illness.

Seffrood, a Wisconsin native, was a city council member for six-and-a-half years before being elected mayor in 2015. Before that, he served in the Army  for 23 years, retiring in 1979. He worked for Central Texas College from 1980 to 1986, and for the U.S. Postal Service from 1986 to 2010.

Saturday, January 5, 2019, 1pm – 3pm and 6pm – 8pm
Sunday, January 6, 2019, 1pm – 3pm and 6pm – 8pm

-Rosary at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, 211 W Avenue B, Copperas Cove
Sunday, January 6, 2019, 730pm

-Catholic Mass & Interment at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1001 Georgetown Road, Copperas Cove
Monday, January 7, 2019, 10am, followed by interment at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 State Hwy 195, Killeen
