Scott & White Receives $3.2 Million To Fund Cancer Research And Education

The Scott & White Healthcare Foundation has received a $3.2 million estate gift from Doreen Grimes to fund cancer research, education and prevention.

The gift, granted in honor of Grimes’ surgeon, Dr. Charles Capen, will also create the Grimes Family Chair in Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Doreen Grimes Research Awards Endowment and the Grimes Family Musical Garden.

Grimes was a musician herself, having taught music at Angelo State University for almost 30 years and composed 400 works, including operas and symphonies.
