Services Set for Midway Teen Who Died in Lake Waco

It was announced that a celebration of life service has been set for the Midway teen who passed away this week on Lake Waco.

According to KWTX TV, services for 18-year-old Nick Sheldon will be held Tuesday, August 9th, 3:30pm at the Midway Performing Arts Center.

18-year-old Sheldon passed away at Hillcrest Hospital this past Wednesday afternoon from injuries he sustained from diving into Lake Waco Tuesday, and hitting a shallow sand bar.

According to Waco Fire Chief, Bobby Tatum, they responded to a possible drowning call at Koehne Park in Waco Tuesday evening around 7pm.

It seems Sheldon dove off a boat into the water where, witnesses say, had a hidden sandbar 3 to 4 feet below the surface.

His friends pulled him from the water and began CPR, but he was already unconscious when the paramedics arrived.

Wednesday night saw more than 100 current and former Midway students gather to remember Nick.
