Belton officials have called for the overnight closure of north and southbound I-35 frontage roads at Exit 294 A and the Central Avenue Exit as a precaution.
I35 traffic from north of Temple to Midway Drive continued to move at a snail's pace Tuesday afternoon as crews worked to clear debris from the area near Pendleton Road.
Honestly, I didn't think it rained that much to cause all of this. TSU cancelled classes for the afternoon because of it.
Maybe the elementary school ought to cancel recess.

All of this, as Ellis points out, has a big impact on the local economy. Gas sales are down, as are boat and kayak rentals, and even local grocery store sales.
Ellis remembered, "I was in a 23-foot vessel with a 225 horsepower engine on it, and I couldn’t keep up with the flow, I eventually had to turn around.”
