Lee Roy Parnell takes the stage at Temple Blooming Fest Saturday night.

The top notch guitarist, is a darn good singer and he writes songs too. Parnell borrows from Blue-Eyed Soul, Delta Blues, Road House Rock, Southern Boogie, Texas Swing, and Gospel, to make his own distinctive sound. His music can be found on the country AND blues charts.

Check out this song, "A Little Bit of You", hit the charts in 1995, I still like it!

Parnell was born in Abilene, and grew up on his parents’ ranch. There was music in his blood, Parnell's father had toured with a teenage Bob Wills in traveling medicine shows.  Lee Roy’s first public performance came when he was just SIX, on Wills’ radio show.  As a teenager, Parnell played drums in a local band and soon picked up guitar as well, eventually concentrating on slide playing.  He hung around in Texas for about 10 years  playing clubs while honing his style and songwriting.  Parnell moved to Nashville in 1987 and his career keeps on rolling.

Come out to Temple Bloomin Fest Saturday night, and see Lee Roy Parnell in the flesh.  Parnell should take the stage around 8:45.  I hope he plays “On the Road”
