The public is invited to attend an observance Wednesday of the anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

The ceremony will be conducted by Temple Fire & Rescue and the Temple Housing Authority at the Kyle Building located at 111 North Main Street. The service will begin at 8:44 a.m. with opening remarks by Temple Fire Chief Lonzo Wallace.

As a group, firefighters in gear will climb 343 flights of stairs – a flight for each New York City firefighter killed in the collapse of the World Trade Towers. As they climb, the names of the fallen FDNY firefighters will be read.

The service will be held in honor not only of fallen firefighters, but of all emergency responders and civilians killed at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and Shanksville, Pennsylvania and their families.
