Firefighters already fight what the rest of us fear, but on Christmas Day they proved once again why they are our heroes. Temple Firefighters with Santa Claus in tow delivered presents to inpatients at Baylor Scott & White's McLane Children’s Medical Center this morning.

According to a release, Temple Firefighters from Central Station and Station 3 took toys to fifty-seven children spending Christmas Day in the hospital including in the Emergency room. Gifts were purchased by Temple Professional Firefighters Association Local 846. The union has done this for several years and it's dues well spent.

"Thank you to the parents for allowing us to spend Christmas morning with you and your child," said Spokesman Thomas Pechal in a release. 'We sincerely hope and pray for a speedy recovery so your child can return home soon. Thank you Child Life

Team for working with us to help bring a smile to a child in the hospital."

What's this, dust in my eyes? God bless us everyone. Merry Christmas one and all, especially to these public employees and the sick kids they helped today.
