Temple House a Total Loss After Early Morning Fire

Temple Fire & Rescue battled a fire early Thursday morning, less than a week after responding to the same location.

Firefighters arrived at a vacant house at 5 North 20th St at 1:07 a.m. The first unit at the scene reported flames and smoke coming out of windows on the left side of the wood-framed house. Minutes later, flames broke through the roof, threatening a neighboring home. Firefighters began an exterior assault that protected the other home from damage. The fire was under control by 1:38 a.m., and the scene was cleared by 4:18 a.m.

The vacant home received extensive fire and smoke damage and is considered a total loss. Fortunately, there were no injuries. A dollar amount has yet to be calculated.

An Engine Company remained at the scene Thursday morning to monitor for hot spots that could spark another fire. Firefighters responded to the same home on the evening of Friday, August 16. Officials have not commented on whether the fires are related.
