A Temple man told police he was the victim of a random and terrifying crime early Thursday morning.

The man, whose identity has not been released, spoke to officers after being admitted to the emergency room at Scott & White Hospital in Temple.

According to our news partner KWTX, the victim said he was walking in the 2000 block of Marlandwood Road between midnight and 2 AM when he sensed someone may be following him.

He turned and saw a man wearing a hoodie and sunglasses. The victim said the attacker remained silent as he hit the victim in the head with an unknown object, knocking him unconscious.When the victim came to, the attacker was gone along with the victim's wallet and cellphone.

The victim described his attacker as a heavyset man around 6'1" tall and wearing a hoodie with a skeleton design and sunglasses. The hood and glasses covered the man's face.

Police were reportedly unable to determine the exact scene of the crime.
