Temple High School senior Kimberyln Brooke Longbotham, 18, succumbed to fatal injures Saturday morning at Scott & White Hospital after a collision Friday night, when a Chevrolet pickup truck traveling westbound on Airport Road crossed into the eastbound lanes. 

The truck collided with a Volkswagen passenger car and a Toyota SUV. Longbotham, the driver of the Volkswagen, was ejected from her vehicle in the crash. The two adults and three children in the Toyota were also taken to local hospitals, but received non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the truck has not been identified, at the crash is still under investigation by Temple police, who have expressed their condolences for the family of the deceased. Kimberlyn, a softball player who planned to attend Texas State University in the fall, was remembered in an impromptu ceremony by her teammates and classmates at Temple High School's softball field Saturday night.

An official memorial has yet to be announced.
