Dylan Sorrells is looking mighty proud of the 54-pound catfish he pulled out of Lake Tawakoni.

According to WFAA.com, the catfish is a new world's record for someone Dylan's age. TexasHillCountry.com reports this young man has a history of great catches, but this time Dylan's father was able to properly document the fish so that the record would stand.

I'll probably remember it until I'm an old man! I learned if you keep trying you can reach it.

This young man remembers catching a 90 pound alligator gar, as well as other big fish like the catfish seen above, but at the time they caught those fish they lacked the equipment to record the catch properly. Not anymore. Dylan's father Chris says it only took a couple of big fish for him to buy all the equipment he would need to make sure his son got the credit for his hard work.

Dylan is thrilled with the catch, telling WFAA.com, "I'll probably remember it until I'm an old man! I learned if you keep trying you can reach it."

Fish on, Dylan!
