A new crop could be coming to Texas.

According to Fox34.com, advocates are in the process of making it allowable for Texas farmers to start growing hemp, the famous cousin of marijuana.

The Texas Hemp Industries Association claims that "Hemp can help restore our rural communities and stimulate our Texas economy by adding diversity and ingenuity to the market."

The other goal is to educate. They want to help people understand the differences between Hemp and marijuana.

According to the TXHIA, hemp can already be grown in 29 states and its products can be used in Texas.
