Governor Greg Abbott has called for a number of measures to curb sexual assault and human trafficking in Texas, including creating a "do not hire" registry for teachers and other school employees convicted of unlawful interactions with students according to myhighplains.com.

Abbott's plan would include funding crime lab test that could "eliminate the backlog of sexual assault evidence kits" by spending $14 million for 2020-2021. Human trafficking departments would also be created for $22 million at the state level. There would also be an increase in the penalties for traffickers.

Included in all of this would be the creation of an online portal that could be used by district leaders to track and report inappropriate teacher-student relationships.
