Even prior to the shootings in Dallas, the state of Texas has seen more police officers killed than any other U.S. state in the last 18 months. There have been 23 Texas police officers killed in the line of duty since January 1st, 2015. So even before the tragedy in Dallas, Texas is the deadliest state for law enforcement with 7 officers killed this year alone. In 2015, Texas saw 11 officers killed in the line of duty. Many of those deaths were a result of gunfire, while others involved vehicle accidents.
