There was a time that knowing, and repeating lines from a movie, made you an outcast. But know you're an outcast if you don't know the lines.

I believe it was Sportscenter with Dan Patrick and Keith Olbermann that changed the culture for quoting movies. They peppered the highlights with movie quotes and references, and if you got it, you felt smart, as silly as that sounds. But if you were watching with a bunch of friends and you admitted not knowing a reference, then you'd never hear the end of it.

I was at a party in Detroit Lakes Minnesota in the late 80's. It was the 4th of July weekend,

You using the whole fist doc

I didn't drink then either so I was brought along to drive and keep track of everyone. I was talking with a couple of friends, who were drinking heavily, and some idiot stranger runs into us and suddenly we were seconds away from throwing punches. The stranger turns around and apologizes, he then quotes a line from "Fletch",

"You using the whole fist doc?"

The guy he bumped into then quotes the next line.

"Just relax"

Suddenly they were best friends.

To be honest, I can't see a road sign to Rosebud and not think of Citizen Kane. Here are the 100 most Iconic Movie lines of all time. Get to know them, it could save you from a fist fight.
