Here is a look at the 5 most frequently traveled bridges in Bell County that are categorized as "structurally deficient".

To earn such a score, one or more key elements of each bridge has to be found to be in "poor" or "worse" condition. The Killeen Daily Herald reports that these classifications have been handed out by the Road and Transportation Builders Association.

The U.S. Department of Transportation puts out an annual report on the status of bridges nationwide. This report includes some 596 bridges in Bell and Williamson Counties in Texas that are in need of repairs right now. Many have been listed as needing repairs for a decade.

KDH reports the estimated cost to repair all 596 bridges will run somewhere close to $370 million. TxDot would like to remind everyone that the term "Structurally Deficient" does not necessarily translate to "unsafe". They explain it's a term used for funding classification.     W. Central Ave over Nolanville Creek in Belton

    This is the oldest bridge on the list. It was built in the 1920's. It doesn't see a lot of vehicle traffic anymore but a lot of people use it to walk to Yettie Polk Park.

    Taylor Valley Road over Leon River in Belton

    Built in the 1950's it's time to have this bridge looked at as well. This bridge has been listed as needing repairs since 2007.

    Bottoms Road over Big Elm Creek in Troy

    Another bridge built in the 1950's is ready for repair here. As of 2013 the county was still discussing what it's interests would be in repairing the bridge. How about so nobody falls off of it?!?

    Darrs Creek Bridge over Darrs Creek in Bartlett

    This bridge may be one of the worst. It's also been listed as needing repairs for a decade yet the work has been unfunded and unscheduled since at least 2007.
