Alissa and Robbie Parker’s 6-year-old daughter, Emilie, died in the December 14, 2012 massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. Emilie was one of 20 children and 6 adults slain by shooter Adam Lanza before he took his own life. Lanza also murdered his mother before committing the mass-shooting.

The Parkers met with Lanza’s father, Peter, for over an hour. In a CBS interview, the couple said they felt the need to speak to Mr. Lanza in order to find some closure. Details of that meeting are currently unavailable, but it seems the two spoke with Mr. Lanza about his son’s mental health and his relationship with his parents among other issues.

Alissa Parker on Thursday told “CBS This Morning”:

CBS will air the rest of that interview Friday morning.
