We're about 3-4 weeks out from the playoffs portion of the high school football season. That means we're going to be seeing some special football on our local gridirons in November. Maxpreps.com just put out a list of Texas high school football teams that have made the most playoff appearances dating back to 1924 - and three Central Texas schools are on that list - with Temple holding an impressive number in Class 5A.  The rankings were sorted by division.

Temple High School has been one of the crown jewels of Central Texas when it comes to high school football. The Wildcats storied history is rich with State Championships and playoff appearances - 42 playoff appearances to be exact.

42 appearances puts Temple tied for the 3rd most playoff appearances in Class 5A. There are only 8 Texas high schools (all divisions) with more appearances than the Wildcats and if Temple (6-2 overall, 4-0 District) continues to play well, that number just might go up.

Two more Central Texas high schools also made the list of most playoff appearances in their district - Rogers and Cameron Yoe.

Both teams are in Class 3A with Cameron holding the second most playoff appearances with 42 and Rogers with 40 appearances giving the Eagles the No. 5 spot.

Show some Central Texas pride! This is over 90 years of Texas football history and our schools are leaders among the tradition.
