The Texas Panhandle is home to some amazing towns.  These towns are hometowns to a lot of current Amarillo residents.   Hometowns fill us with memories and nostalgia, and when we see our hometowns grow we feel a sense of pride

These towns are still home to thousands of people, and they are proud of their community.  It's always a wonderful thing to see when a new business comes into a small town and breathes in new life.

That's what happened in Dumas, with Topple Turtle Brewing Company.

J.L. and Ashleigh Wiswell opened up Topple Turtle Brewing Company in Dumas in the latter part of 2020.  The Wiswells previously owned Dodgeton Creek Brewing Company in Trinidad, Colorado. However, they decided they wanted to come back home to Dumas, and along with them, they brought their knowledge of craft beer and how to brew up some amazing beers.

The brewery is located in the historical Phillips Building which was built in 1937. The Wiswells brought back history with exposed brick walls and rafters.  You can feel the history of the building when you walk into the brewing company. This location was a local hardware store for many years.

It was fun to hear some of the people of Dumas talk about how they used to shop there as a kid, or they got their first rifle along that wall when it was a hardware store.

This brewery is family-friendly and the feel when you walk into the door is warm, friendly, and chill. They even have a children's area with games and toys. However, they have had issues with the area being destroyed after the kids got a bit rambunctious.

The Topple Turtle is a perfect place to meet friends, relax after work, go on a date, or even have a fun business meeting.  They have live music and of course, they brew their own beers.

Jeremy, Topple Turtle Manager, said it takes about a month for their beers to go from tank to tap.

If you're not into beer or craft beer they have some amazing wines and Topple Turtle champagne.  If you don't do alcoholic beverages, they have a Root Beer, which is to die for, and that makes it the perfect non-alcoholic drink.  If you are not into either, then grab a coffee from Herencia Coffee, which is located in the Topple Turtle Brewing Company.

The success of Topple Turtle Brewing Company is apparent, they are currently expanding their outdoor patio, which will feature games, like cornhole, as well as live music on certain nights.  They currently have bingo and karaoke nights.

What would make a brewery perfect?  Some really great food! Currently, patrons can order food from a food truck behind the brewery and have food delivered into the brewery, or just walk to the back and order and wait.   Topple Turtle Brewing Company is opening its own brick oven pizzeria.  They are hoping to have the pizzeria open by the end of April.    They were hush-hush with the name of it, but if they don't go with something turtle and mutant, then what in the heck?

One of the perks of the Topple Turtle Brewing Company is the brewery cats.  The cats are friendly and welcoming. The brewery has cats!

In the beginning, some residents had concerns over a brewing company coming into Dumas, but this place is far from a rowdy bar.  It's a chill place where people can come and sip and enjoy the art of craft beer.

If you don't live in Dumas and have never been to Dumas, it's time to make a road trip to try out the Topple Turtle Brewing Company.

The Hidden Jewel That is The Toppled Turtle

This cute little brewery is Dumas' best kept secret. No, really!
