News 10 caught a pretty amazing photo yesterday of an 18-wheeler fire near McGregor.

Several units responded to S. Lone Star Parkway (Highway 317) and Schmidt Lane, while others diverted traffic between McGregor and Moody.

This all happened around 7:40 p.m. yesterday after a tire blew out on the 18-wheeler which started a fire in the rear axle of the truck. The fire then ignited the grass near the truck when it came to a stop. The tanker was carrying about 4,500 pounds of liquid nitrogen according to Rissa Shaw and Justin Earley with News 10.

McGregor fire took care of the rear axle and the grass fire. Once that was over they stayed on the scene as the tanker needed to vent to relieve pressure. Thankfully, nobody was hurt.

A big thanks to McGregor Police, Moody Police, Texas Department of Public Safety troopers, fire teams, McLennan County deputies and everyone who helped keep the public safe.
