Around 2 p.m. today, I caught a glimpse of billowing smoke rising into the air between the Dog Ridge Road and G Wilson South exits off US 190. I had a camera in hand so I decided to snap a few photos.

The fire was much bigger than I expected and I got a little concerned as it seemed pretty close to people's homes, but it did appear under control. I'm not sure but I would guess it was a controlled fire due to all of the dry heat we've experienced the last couple weeks and the incoming lightning storm that occurred about an hour after I spotted the blaze.

Check out some of these up close and personal photos! Maybe you have a better idea as to why this blaze came about.
