Voters in Copperas Cove have approved the sale of liquor and mixed drinks within city limits for the first time.

Unofficial results reported by the Temple Daily Telegram say the measure received over 6,000 votes in favor number of the liquor sales in city limits, and those opposed numbered around 1600 votes.

Cove is now in line with surrounding communities like Gatesville who approved beer and liquor sales in 2012, and Lampasas Country in 2015. The proposition was approved by the Cove city counsel in June, and was the third such push for changes to the liquor sales laws in the city.

Businesses in Copperas Cove will now get to apply for a Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission License for direct sales to customers.
