New Country U.S. 105 welcomes Bobby Tatum to the Waco City Fire Department!

Waco city manager Dale Fisseler announced this week that Mr. Tatum will succeed John Johnston as chief of the city's Fire Department. This appointment makes Tatum the city's first African American Fire Chief.

Bobby Tatum was the top choice from a list of 76 applicants who applied from 23 states nationwide. Mr. Tatum brings more than 30 years of experience with Bureau of Fire Prevention of Fort Worth, Texas, where his career began in 1985. He has been Fire Chief in Fort Worth since 2003.

Chief Tatum is a graduate of Grand Canyon University where he completed his Master of Science degree with a focus on disaster preparedness. He also has a degree from Midwestern State University, and an associate of applied arts and science degree in fire protection technology from Tarrant County College.
