University of Mary Hardin-Baylor McLane Lecture hosted Carlos Norris, AKA Chuck Norris, today at the Mayborn Campus Center.

Faculty and students of UMHB and the surrounding communities attended the capacity-filled center to get a glimpse of the actor who is best known for his role in the CBS TV Series "Walker, Texas Ranger."

Norris' visit to the campus was sponsored by Elizabeth and Drayton McLane Jr.  The McLane family have been involved with the university for many years through donations and sponsoring special events such as the McLane Lectures.

Among his acting career, Norris is a six-time undefeated World Professional Middle Weight Karate Champion and a New York Times bestselling author of three nonfiction books including Black Belt Patriotism: How to Reawaken America. He is the recipient of the McLane Leadership in Business Award and an eight-degree Black Belt Grand Master ranking. He also is the founder of KickStart Kids; a program which builds strong moral character in at-risk middle school children through martial arts.

Dr. Steve Oldham, Provost & Senior V.P. for Academic Affairs, concluded the lecture by presenting Norris with a gift of appreciation from the university.
