Spotting the difference between an Apple iPhone and an actual apple may be obvious to just about everybody with working eyes, but it’s not to one woman in Australia.

The woman tried to buy a pair of iPhones, only to wind up with a pair of real apples, instead.

The sucker -- err, the victim -- placed an ad online to say she was on the hunt for some iPhones. Another woman got in touch with her and said she had two apples. They met up at a McDonald’s where the victim handed over $1,200. The scam artist gave her two iPhone boxes, which the woman never opened.

When the victim got home, she looked in the boxes to find actual apples inside them. A local police officer said the incident is a good example of the importance of being careful while shopping online.

That seems pretty obvious. Kind of like the difference between an Apple iPhone and an actual apple.

But, hey, it could've been worse -- she could've tried to buy a BlackBerry.
