It seems like every other day we hear about a study that "proves" something we all pretty much already knew. Today, I stumbled across this.

According to CBS News, researchers at New York's Canisius College surveyed 962 women about their sleep partners and habits. 55% of the women slept with at least one dog. Researchers determined that these women experienced far fewer sleep disturbances than women who slept with cats or human men. They also had much stronger feelings of comfort and security, and were found to have earlier bed times and stricter sleep schedules.

“Dog ownership and its associated responsibilities may cause individuals to adhere to a stricter routine,” CBS News wrote, citing the study. “Keeping to a consistent sleep schedule may be beneficial to dog owners.”

Going the extra "no duh" mile, researchers reported that cats were just as disruptive as human sleep partners and were associated with weaker feelings of comfort and security compared to canines and humans. Anyone who's woken up to their cat licking their ear, mewing in their face, sleeping on their head, or kneading their flesh just for the fun of it already knew this, guys. And we won't even go into how disturbing it is when kitty leaves a dead thing on your pillow.

So, ladies, ditch the dude, lock the cat out of your bedroom, and snuggle with a puppy. You'll get more sleep and be much happier.
