🚓 A 29-year-old man is dead after an officer-involved shooting happened near the Freestone County Courthouse in Fairfield, Texas. Our partners at News 10 report limited information is available so soon after the shooting took place.

The Fairfield city administrator has confirmed the shooting took place around 9 am this morning and that the Texas Rangers are in place and taking over the investigation.

Officials say a domestic call came in about a from an individual on U.S. Highway 84. During that call, the 29-year-old man threatened to do harm to a woman according to police.  When police located the man they first tried using a Taser to subdue him. When that didn't work the officer had to use deadly force.

The police officer that shot the man was a 10-year veteran of the department and was not hurt during the altercation. Staff members working inside the courthouse when this all went down would not comment further about the shooting.
