$10K Reward For 300 Salamanders Stolen From San Marcos Hatchery
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife service is offering a $10,000 reward for over 300 salamanders stolen from the National Hatchery in San Marcos.
The theft actually accrued in November of 2016 but the case has gone cold. The tanks in the video above used to hold over 300 salamanders, all of whom are now missing.
253 Texas blind salamanders along with 110 San Marcos salamanders all vanished at the same time.. At first the hatchery staff at the San Marcos Aquatic Resource Center was trying to determine if they had been eaten by another animal but there is just no evidence of anything like that occurring. They are now hoping the reward helps lead them to the missing salamanders.
