School is back!

It’s that glorious time of the year where we send our little bundles of joy off into the world and let them be someone else’s problem for the day.

Of course we all love our children, but after 3 months being home with our little humans nonstop, it’s nice to have some time back. Most of us work in some capacity, so you’ll still have to make some time, but now that there are no kids during the day, you and your significant other can carve out a little time for yourselves.

Here’re 5 date ideas for parents that are now kid-free.

The idea of going to a water park can be the stuff of nightmares. The thought of standing in long lines while carrying a giant tube surrounded by screaming children can turn your hair grey. But now that the little ones are back in school, now is your last chance to go enjoy the waterpark and hold hands on the lazy river before parks shut down.

During the summertime, bowling alleys and arcades are a hive of activity for kids on summer break. Now that they're back to hitting the books, you and your partner can go get some fancy bowling shoes and enjoy ten frames of relaxation.

Fore!

Take your other half down to the mini golf spot and work on your short game. This is definitely something to do during the day. You can enjoy some laughs and bad golfing with each other without having to watch little Jimmy throw a tantrum on the 18th hole because he can’t get the ball past the windmill.

A Casual Stroll

Maybe you just want to do something quick during your lunch break. Well then go pick up your partner, grab something easy to eat, and take a stroll through the local park to unwind. Without having to dodge small speeding children, you can both find a little relaxation on a bench under a tree at the park.

Action!

This one is a little hit and miss because of everything going on in society. But with the kids back in school, you have a little time to go catch a flick with your honey. Grab some popcorn and go enjoy a movie in an empty theatre one afternoon.

BONUS DATE

Now some people may not consider this a date, but as far as I’m concerned, a trip to home depot is as romantic as anything. Use your open day to walk around the home improvement and home décor stores. You can come up with some plans for the house without having to chase kids up and down the aisles.

LOOK: Here are the 50 best beach towns in America

Every beach town has its share of pluses and minuses, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best one to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.

Keep reading to see if your favorite beach town made the cut.
