Sammie's love for Baylor is part of a family tradition. Her father played football at Baylor for Coach Grant Teaff from 1988-1991 according to Julie Hayes at News 10. She went to her first basketball camp in the first grade. Her parents told News 10 that when Sammie was born her first word was "ball".

First things first. Let's all keep an eye on the Regan High School (San Antonio area) girls basketball team this fall because Sammie may end up breaking all kinds of records for points, minutes played, and rebounds. I'm sure her new teammates will be thrilled to have her join their team. The watchful eyes of the Baylor Lady Bears will be looking on as well. Wagner will be eligible to play for Baylor in the fall of 2023.
