20 Great 90s Fads That Will Make Every Texan Nostalgic

Being born in the ‘80s was a blessing. The turmoil of the Vietnam era was fading, technology was advancing at an exponential rate, and fashion was at its most daring and unique. The ‘80s felt like a cultural testing ground because it was a decade where America was figuring out its identity. And by the time we hit the ‘90s, it seemed like we had finally decided who we were.

Of course, that wasn’t true at all. The ‘90s were just as full of trial-and-error fads as any other era. But that’s not to say some of those flash in the pan trends didn’t deserve a longer stay in our cultural zeitgeist.

That's why it's time that we bring some of these fads back, especially here in Texas. Imagine rolling up to a Buc-ee's while wearing your JNCO Jeans and pulling money out of your velcro wallet. Maybe if we brought back Starter jackets the Cowboys might bring back Super Bowl Championships.

The 90s certainly weren't perfect, but they felt like a nice in between of the morality of the past decades and the advanced technology of today. We had the power of the internet. It just wasn't in the palm of our hands everyday pulling us away from real life. You had to log on to get to the internet, and you didn't need your iphone telling you how much screentime you had been using. Your mom did that by yelling at you to get off the internet so that she could use the phone. We weren't glued to our screens. We were doing things. We were burning CDs for the girl we had a crush on, and when we wanted to play video games with our friends we went to their house or to the arcade to do it together.

The 90s were a time of connections, and those connections weren't 5G or WiFi. The connections we made then were real. Maybe that's why some of the fads from the 90s deserve a comeback. Maybe all of the improvements we've made haven't actually made things better.
