Killeen police are asking for the public's help to find a woman who may have information about the abduction and death of a young girl.

Detectives believe Maria Lashawn Taylor may have information about the April 30, 1997 abduction of then 7-year-old Danydia Thompson, who was found dead shortly after going missing. They say all leads point to Taylor as a key witness who could lead them to the suspect in this case.

Taylor is known to have lived in Caldwell, TX, and police have reason to believe she frequents the Central Texas area.

Police say Danydia Thompson was abducted in the 900 block of Rev R.A. Abercrombie Dr. in Killeen. Witnesses reported seeing her riding piggy back on a black male near the intersection of Veteran's Memorial Blvd and Jeffries Avenue a few days before she was found dead south of Killeen along Highway 195.

Detectives are asking anyone who may have information on Maria Lashawn Taylor’s whereabouts or has information about the Danydia Thompson case to contact Crime Stoppers at 526-TIPS (8477) or online at bellcountycrimestoppers.com. Information can also be sent via text along with the word BELLCO to 274637. All information is confidential and anonymous, and a tip leading to the arrest of the suspect could be eligible to receive a reward up to $1,000 in cash.

Let's help bring closure to this little girl's family.
