Police in Brunswick, Georgia are searching for two children suspected of shooting a 13-month-old boy in a botched robbery.

Mother Sherry West says she was pushing her baby, Antonio, in a stroller when she was approached by two boys. The older of the two demanded money or, he said, he would shoot West. When she insisted she didn’t have any, West says the boy opened fire and killed her baby.

West, the only witness to the crime, says the older boy looked to be between 13 and 15 years old.

West told WAWS-TV of Jacksonville:

“He said 'I'm going to kill you if you don't give me money,' and I said, 'I swear I don't have any.”

West says that triggered a violent reaction from the older boy.

“I put my arms over my baby and he shoves me and then he shot my baby right in the head.”

So far, police have no motive for the crime in what many have described as a quiet neighborhood. A reward of $10 thousand has been offered for information leading to the whereabouts of the young boys, and police are checking attendance records at local schools in hopes of narrowing down a list of suspects.
