The suspect was spotted at the Subway restaurant at the intersection of 29th and Central around 7 pm. The man got into a car with a woman whom police say he pointed the gun at several times during their pursuit. Officers were able to deflate the tires of the vehicle using spiked strips, and the chase came to an end at 3800 S. 31st behind the Advanced Auto Parts store.

The man allowed the woman to go free but refused to surrender himself to police. A S.W.A.T. team was called in to apprehend the man using a stun grenade, but when police approached the man he pointed a gun at them. One officer was forced to shoot the man.

The suspect is currently at Scott and White Hospital.
