The kids give up their rooms for the older family members, and everyone tries to co-exist in the limited space available. Sure, you could rent a hotel, but a cold hotel room is not the place you want to spend the holiday. The other alternative is Airbnb. The cool thing about an Airbnb for the holiday season is it allows you to escape the craziness of a full house of relatives yet still feel like you are home. For those who get along well with other visiting family members, Airbnb provides homes with multiple rooms so the cost can be shared among other family members. Some hosts will even decorate their properties for visiting guests.

Reasons Airbnb is Better Than a Hotel During the Holidays

Holidays give friends and family members the opportunity to spend time together, but space is often limited in the designated holiday home. Airbnb offers more space and many other perks as well.

A Home Environment- Once you leave the family house for the evening, Airbnb has all the perks of home should you want to cook something, watch TV, hang out and talk, or anything else you do with the family.

Festive Atmosphere- Many Airbnb’s go beyond the call of duty to provide a warm environment. Some even have Christmas decorations for visiting guests. I once stayed at an Airbnb that provided fresh apple pie and ice cream.

Family Get-Togethers- You may not want to escape the family for the holiday but rather have a large space to accommodate everyone. Airbnb has a huge number of large properties for this very purpose.

Budget Friendly- If your family plans to stay at an Airbnb together, the cost can be divided among family members.

Do Your Research Before Booking an Airbnb

Airbnb’s can be a lifesaver during the holidays but take the time to research a property before making a reservation. I love old homes, so I made a reservation at a century old home near my family in south Louisiana to attend a birthday celebration. If I had read visitor reviews, I would have known that the house was extremely cluttered. I love antiques, but I also love being able to set down my cup of coffee on a table without having to move a bunch of stuff first.
