American Legion Post 223 at 208 S. Park St. in Killeen will hold its annual flag burning ceremony at 6 p.m. Friday.

Ceremonial burning is the only proper way to dispose of old flags, including those which have torn or touched the ground.

The American Legion Post is comprised of former service members. The ceremony will also include members of Boy Scout Troop 223 and the local Knights of Columbus chapter. The public is invited to attend.

American Legion Post 573 in Harker Heights will also host a public flag burning ceremony. It will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday.

Fort Hood's Noncommissioned Officer Academy will host a Flag Day presentation at 2 p.m. Friday. It is open to the Fort Hood community.
