It's starting to look like you could do a weekly roundup of elderly lawmakers in Washington, D.C. getting hurt or looking like they are having mini strokes while being interviewed or giving speeches on live television. Just last week, 84-year-old Nancy Pelosi, sustained a hip injury that resulted in her having to have surgery. Prior to that, Mitch McConnell fell and sprained his wrist, and that wasn't even as concerning as when he appeared to have a stroke while freezing mid speech and staring off into space. Most disturbingly was finding out that Texas Representative Kay Granger had been living in a retirement home for people with memory issues, and that she had missed six months of key House votes.

This week we got to see 81-year-old North Carolina Representative Virginia Foxx fall while she was walking down a marble staircase outside the House Chamber. Foxx's communications director released a statement that Foxx seemed to be okey. Apparently, the incident happened while she was walking over to speak to a family member in the gallery of the House chamber. Foxx was examined by medical personnel after she was helped to her feet. After that, she was able to take herself to the attending physician's office to get treated for some cuts.

Representative Foxx, has since released a statement of her own through her twitter saying, "Thank you to everyone for your prayers – just a few small cuts and I’m doing just fine. I’m a mountain woman, and we’re tougher than a $2 steak."

She may be old and a little clumsy, but she certainly still has a sharp wit and a great sense of humor.
