Asleep at the Wheel was the featured act at Johnny’s Steaks and Bar-Be-Que in Salado Friday night.  I last saw them live during my College Days, oh so many years ago.  Nine Grammy's later, they still Got It!

I think most of the folks in the crowd were fans from days gone by too.   Ray Benson and the rest of the group did not disappoint playing all the old favorites including my favorite, “Miles and Miles of Texas”.  And they had the crowd two stepping and doing the Cotton-eyed Joe too!

Yes, I played the star-struck fan and got an autograph from Ray,   I sacrificed though and had him make it out to my husband Keith.  But I got the up close and personal picture!

It was great night at Johnny's, opening act was Mack Abernathy.  He got the crowd going, while Asleep at the Wheel took it home.

Friday night’s show was all a part of Johnny’s Cool Country Concert series in the Outback.  That’s the area made up special with a stage, bar, and playground for the kids behind the restaurant. Next show is May 4th with Curtis Grimes.  Click here to see the upcoming shows.
