A Belton school is helping children in need this Christmas season.

 The Elf Closet

It is once again time for Belton ISD's Chisolm Trail Elementary’s Elf Closet. Since the opening of the school in 2013, the Elf Closet has allowed parents to choose gifts for their children at no cost. Community donations fund the Elf Closet that is operated by school staff and volunteers. Check out the gallery at the end of this article to see the toys that are popular with kids this year!

How Does the Elf Closet Operate?

BISD says a portable building becomes a Christmas store. Parents wanting to shop in private can reserve a shopping time within the week of Dec. 15. Instead of prices, gifts are labeled by a point system which allows parents to shop according to the number of children they have. While the staff wraps the presents, parents can enjoy cocoa.

It is More Than a Charity

Instead of a faceless government entity, the Elf Closet is community members helping community members. Chisolm Trail Principal Sydnie Sewell says the Elf Closet is more than a charity. She said, “It is a living example of our commitment to the families we serve. It shows we do not just educate students; we support families, ensuring every child can experience the joy and magic of the holidays.”

 How You Can Help

The school district is still accepting donations for the Elf Closet. The district is in need of popular items that ran out last year. For girls, items like bead kits, makeup, nail kits, bath bombs, and pajamas are needed. For younger children, Legos, craft or STEM activity kits, stuffed animals, and pajamas are needed. The school has an Amazon Wish List for those who want to help support the Elf Closet. New, unwrapped items can also be dropped off at Chisolm Trail Elementary at 1082 S. Wheat Road in Belton.

Those interested in supporting the Elf Closet can purchase items through the school’s Amazon Wish List by clicking on this link, or drop off new, unwrapped items at Chisolm Trail Elementary, located at 1082 S. Wheat Road in Belton.

Most Popular Toys For Christmas 2025

According to a recent survey, the number one item on most kid's Christmas list is games, slime and nostalgia toys. Who knew that kids were actually interested in things that did not involve a screen??!!
