Cedar Park’s Gas Station Hides A Nepali Culinary Treasure
You have probably stopped at a lot of gas stations for a snack, but probably not one that cooks homemade Nepali food? You need to know about Lali Son Express Kitchen. It’s inside an Exxon on Whiteston Blvd in Cedar Park, and yes, it is good.
From Pump to Plate
What may look like a normal gas station from the outside is plenty surprising on the inside, with Lali Express serving delicious Nepali meals like momos (dumplings), chicken curry, biryani, chowmein, and much more. All of their dishes are made fresh with flavor and spices reflective of the Nepali style.
Ready for Some Like It Hot?
This has definitely gotten some traction recently, and it is moving passed hidden gem to viral food blog stardom. One man said "the best food I ever ate was right next to a windshield wiper display." Others said, "it's definitely worth the drive."
A Menu from Afar
You will not find white tablecloths or fancy booths here. There are just a couple of tables and some friendly people serving you the kind of food that makes you close your eyes on the first bite. Fresh off the boat, literally right off the boat, the chef and owner brings their recipes direct from Nepal.
Next time you are trying to tame the growling stomach beast as you are going through Leander, instead of the traditional drive-thru, fill up your car and your belly at the same time. Just be advised that gas station snacks aren’t going to be the same once you get used to eating dumplings made at a gas station that taste like they belong in a Michelin star restaurant.
