There have been a lot of people that work in different industries showing a growing concern of how artificial intelligence could negatively impact their work and income. For the most part lawyers were not a part of any of those communities. However, that may change soon after ChatGPT showed off its knowledge of the law.

In 2023, ChatGPT took the bar exam, and the AI software was able to score an impressive 297. The state of Texas only requires a score of 270 in order to become an attorney. A score that high put ChatGPT in the top ten percent of test takers. The highest possible score on the bar exam is 400, so there is still some room for improvement considering the AI program has access to all of the information ever uploaded onto the internet.

ChatGPT scored a 75% on the multiple-choice portion of the exam whereas the average for human test takers is a little less than 70%. The program also scored a 4.2 out of 6 on the multistate essay portion, and a passing grade on that is a 4.

It's been over a year since ChatGPT passed the bar exam, and we haven't had any robots or smartphones representing people in court yet. However, the benefit of ChatGPT's ability to pass the bar exam could help real people in law school or people going to court for civil matters that can't afford a representation. The program could be used as a tool in preparing for the bar exam. It could also help someone do research and plan for a civil case when they wouldn't otherwise have the means to do so.

This is Where AI Thinks You Should Retire in Texas

If you’re thinking about where to retire in the Lone Star State, stop. We have computers to do our thinking now.

Okay, I’m kidding, but when I asked artificially intelligent bot brain ChatGPT for the best places to retire in Texas, these are the answers it spit out, along with this disclaimer: “Please note that this list is not exhaustive and there may be other great places to retire in Texas that are not included here. It is always best to research and visit the place before making a decision.

Good advice, but let’s look at the top places it recommended and decide for ourselves, shall we? Some look like winners, but some have us wondering if the computer is short-circuiting.
