City of Temple to Conduct Hazardous Materials Exercise

The City of Temple and Temple Fire and Rescue will simulate a chemical release as part of emergency training at a water treatment plant Friday.

The exercise will take place round 1 pm at 4820 Parkside Drive. The simulation will allow officials to assess the readiness of city emergency plans and response capabilities. City officials say the exercise is required under rules set forth by the Environmental Protection Agency and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

Water service will not be disrupted while the simulation is taking place. Residents can expect to see several emergency vehicles in the area for a few hours.
