After repeated reports and videos of violence at KISD schools began circulating around social media in recent weeks, parents within KISD are fed up with the district's silence and have launched a Facebook page for parents looking for answers.

"Ignored Voices Of Killeen Independent School District" was started by Shelly Hewitt, a concerned KISD parent who says the school district has been slow to respond to parents demand for answers and solutions to violence according to KCEN.

According to the page description:

This group was created to address serious concerns regarding the lack of student safety within the KISD, and their attitudes towards parents and the victims of “If you ignore it, it will go away.” under the blanket statement “that they take these allegations very seriously and encourage parents to report the incidents to them so they can investigate.” With absolutely no intention to do anything more than refer you to the KPD. Who is just going to tell you it’s a KISD matter, but this blame and frustration cannot rest solely on just the KISD and KPD’s shoulders, because ultimately the responsibility of the child falls to the parents. - Ignored Voices Of Killeen Independent School District

Since its launch last week, the page now has over 400 members and their goal is to bring parents, teachers, administration, police, community members, and even students together to find a solution to these problems and issues. If you would like to join this group you can join HERE and you can email them at ignored.voices.of.kisd@gmail.com
