The Copperas Cove City Council was presented with a budget proposal of about $53 million Tuesday night for the 2013-14 fiscal year.

This budget represented an increase of $1.8 million in expenditures and projected revenue of $51.9 million. These numbers reflected a proposed property tax increase, though an official decision has not yet been made on that issue.

Causes for the increase in expenditures were explained in the presentation and including the addition of new city positions, three of which the council eliminated.

Final decisions are expected to be made on September 3.
