A Copperas Cove man was arrested Sunday after a traffic stop revealed he was wanted for an attempted burglary.

Officers stopped Ashley Jackson Hughes in the 2200 block of West Highway 190 when they noticed an inoperable headlamp. They discovered that an arrest warrant had been issued for Hughes following at attempted burglary at a home in the 2200 block of Veterans Avenue and took him into custody. A search of his vehicle turned up cocaine in an open dashboard compartment and heroin hidden inside a cigarette package.

Hughes has been arraigned and remains in the Coryell County Jail on a charge of attempted burglary and two charges of possession of a controlled substance less than 1 gram.
