Copperas Cove Police are reminding residents that leaving food out for deer is against the law according to a city ordinance. A fine of $50 dollars can be issued for those found leaving food out for deer within city limits.

The ordinance exists because when people leave food out for the deer, it often results in feral hogs coming into town to eat. The video below shows a food stand meant for white-tail deer being emptied by a large feral hog who is big enough to reach the food pellets in the stand.

Cove Police have issued the reminder after residents spotted a large feral hog and its baby on Settlement Road near the Big Divide area.
