Depositions, oral testimonies given outside of court, have begun in the lawsuit filed by Former Finance Director Barbara Gonzales against the city of Killeen.

The suit is expected to go to trial in early 2014.

The depositions will serve as evidence in the trial after they have been recorded in writing and certified by the signatures of the witnesses.

Gonzales was fired in December and sued the city under the Texas Whistleblower Act. She claims that she was fired for reporting Killeen City Manager Glenn Morrison's violations of finance laws. The city has denied her claims.

Gonzales is seeking between $200,000 and $1 million in damages.

Former Killeen employee John Acker also filed a whistleblower lawsuit, but dropped it due to lack of funds.
