The City of Temple celebrated their annual Christmas Tree lighting and parade on Tuesday, Dec. 7. Mayor Danny Dunn amazed the crowd by the lighting of the huge tree just minutes before the start of the parade. Each side of Adams Avenue from Eighth Street to 23rd Street was lined with children of all ages playing in the snow while anxiously waiting to have their expectations dazzled for the next 90 minutes.

Marching bands, classic cars, organization floats, and Temple dignitaries were among the main attractions highlighted among the approximately 100 entries. This year's theme was "It's Christmas! A time for Peace, Love and Joy."

KWTX's own Rusty Garrett introduced each entry as it passed through downtown Temple.

Entries were also judged. Prizes were awarded to first through tenth place. Each winner received a plaque and money ranging from $50 to $650.

Here's a video recorded by Parks & Rec of the fun we had in the snow.
