Early Voting Begins Today For May 5th Elections In Killeen
It's time to do your civic duty and have a say in the future of the city of Killeen.
Early voting begins today (April 23rd) to May 1st. Election Day is May 5th. The Killeen Mayoral race, 3 at-large City Council positions, the KISD School Board and a seat on the Water Control and Improvement District are all up for grabs as well as the KISD school bond.
Early voting locations include Killeen Community Center at 2201 E Veterans Memorial Blvd, Killeen City Hall 101 N. College Street, Lions Park Senior Center 1700A E. Stan Schlueter Loop. Early Voting hours are 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM on April 23rd & May 1st only, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM from April 24th to April 30th.
There are also several other issues on the ballot including the Killeen Independent School District seeking $426 Million in order to build & renovate schools, choosing a board member for the water district, deciding whether the Killeen City Council will lose oversight of money being shifted from one city department to another and deciding who will fill one of the KISD board seats overseeing education, special education programs, staffing, and spending, among other things.
Mayoral Candidates are Jose Segara, Elizabeth Blackstone, Hal Butchart, Arturo Cortez, Jimmy Parker, and Holly Teal. Candidates running for 3 at-large city council seats are Jonathan Okray, Steve Harris, Gregory Johnson, Terry Clark, Juan Rivera, Tad Dorroh, & Kimberly Hornsby. Patsy Bracey, Mellisa Brown, Bruce Bynum, Den’Mica Eugene, Leo Gukeisen, Tolly James Jr., Hugh “Butch” Menking, Brockley Moore, Placido J. Rivera, & Kenny Wells.
KISD School Board candidates are for Place 1: Shelley Wells or Phillip Floyd, Place 2: Susan Jones or Laura Allen and for Place 3: Corbett Lawler, Phylis Nairn or Amanda Casebier.
