
Taylor Sheridan Brings ‘Frisco King’ To Texas
Another Texas town is getting the Taylor Sheridan treatment.

Texan writer/director Taylor Sheridan is putting the focus on Frisco, Texas with the Tulsa King spinoff, “Frisco King”. The Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex has seen explosive growth over the past 20 years, and now the rest of the nation will get to see one of the cities responsible for that massive growth.
The Ever-Expanding Sheridan Empire
Frisco King is the latest in the ever-growing list of Sheridan productions. According to Variety, Frisco King will star Samuel L. Jackson with Frisco as the story setting. The show is the latest for Sheridan whose past projects include “Yellowstone”, “1883”, “1923”, “Landman”, “Marshals” and “The Madison”.
A Change In Direction
According to Deadline, the show was originally titled "NOLA King" and was to be set and filmed in New Orleans.The name and location of the series was changed to north Texas after the regime change at Paramount. Jackson will star as Russell Lee Washington Jr., a hitman who crosses paths with Sylvester Stallone’s “Tulsa King” character Dwight Manfredi.
Production
According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, production is set to begin next month at the Tarrant County courthouse. A release date for "Frisco King" has not been announced, but the word Sheridan will write all eight episodes.
Frisco, Texas
Like many of the once small towns that sat on the outskirts of the DFW metroplex, the population of Frisco has skyrocketed over the past 25 years. Frisco is about 30 miles from downtown Dallas, and home to some major players. Literally.The Dallas Cowboys' practice facility ("The Star") has made Frisco home along with the new PGA Frisco golf course and headquarters.
Film Locations
It is still unclear where the Frisco King will be filmed, but Sheridan has made a practice of filming in the Dallas Fort Worth area. “Landman” scenes were filmed all over Fort Worth including the campus of Texas Christian University. "Lioness," starring Nicole Kidman, filmed scenes at Del Frisco's in Downtown Fort Worth, and in uptown Dallas.
